This week's meeting we will be having a fun CUT & PASTE contest. So please come to the meeting with some pens, markers and all your creative powers!

This Friday January, the 29th at noon, is the hard and fast deadline for EMERGE submissions. So get everything in to Steve by FRIDAY to be considered!

NEXT MEETING: Tuesday Jan 19

Tuesday January 19 at 5pm in WAH 105 is our second AIGA USC meeting of the semester. Don't forget to bring in your AIGA poster/flyer and we will discuss them and print them out to post around the school. We will also be talking about the upcoming Stimulatte and making preparations for the EMERGE competition.

First Meeting in Spring

Happy New Year everyone!

Next semester we will be meeting Tuesday nights from 5-6. Our first meeting will be this Tuesday the 12th so we can collect Emerge artwork.

FIRST MEETING IN SPRING
Those of you that designed postcards for stimulatte, we will continue that exchange at our first meeting!! The theme is mythological pet/creature/or spirit, so pick one or create your own and design a postcard. Print out at least 15 postcards with your creature on it to swap at our meeting.

EMERGE
Please decide on what piece of art you will be submitting for Emerge. Ten students from each LA school will be selected to be in the show. Having your work in the show is a honor and a chance to showcase your design work to the professional community. Last year hundreds of industry professionals attended the opening party. Please turn in your piece for the show the week we return to school in the office.

RENEGADE CRAFT FAIR
We may have our own AIGA USC booth to sell our designs at the fair. If you have anything that you would like to sell at the fair please develop these ideas asap!

TEACUP AUCTION ON NOW



TEACUP AUCTION: THIS WEEK TILL FRIDAY
The teacup auction is up so place your bids! The auction ends on Friday at 5pm. You can collect your cups at the Teacup Party on Monday November 23 at 5pm in WAH 105. There will be food, coffee and tea.

STIMULATE: MYTHOLOGICAL CREATURE POSTCARDS- DEC 3
Yesterday's meeting we discussed the next Stimulate event organized by Loyola Marymount University at The Cow's End Cafe in Venice on December 3, 7-9pm. The event will be a postcard swap. The theme is mythological pet of the month so pick a mythological creature or create your own. Print out at least 15 postcards with your creature on it to swap at the event. You can print them through Overnight Prints (http://www.overnightprints.com/postcards) or create them yourself. We will be organizing carpools to this event so get your postcards ready by December 3!

Tea Cup Installation TOMORROW and Meeting on MONDAY

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 13 @ 12 outside WAH 105 we will be installing for our Tea Cup fundraiser. Anyone who designed a cup and is free please stop by after 12 to help with the installation. The silent auction will take place this upcoming week so look for the auction book beside the case to place your bids on your favorite designs. The starting price is 5 $. The auction bidding ends on Friday November 20. The winning bids can collect their new cups at the Mad Hatter Tea Party on November 23rd (5pm in WAH 105.)

The next AIGA USC meeting is this Monday in WAH 105 at 5pm. We will be doing a postcard design activity for an upcoming AIGA LA Stimulate event on December 3 at The Cow's End Cafe (mark your calendars-we will organize carpools to this event.)

MEETING: Tuesday November 10, 5pm WAH 105

The meeting this week will be a brainstorming session for project entries into the Emerge competition. Ten students from each LA school will be selected to be in the show. Having your work in the show is a honor and a chance to showcase your design work to the professional community. Last year hundreds of industry professionals attended the opening party.

Tomorrow we will also be talking about Renegade Craft Fair. We may have our own AIGA USC booth to sell our designs at the fair. If you have anything that you would like to sell at the fair or some ideas, bring it to the meeting tomorrow.

Meetings moved to TUESDAY 5pm WAH 105


AIGA USC meetings will be moved permanently to Tuesday at 5pm in WAH 105. Tomorrow's meeting will be your last chance to decorate a cup that will be entered into the silent auction that starts on November 13, 2009. Also be sure to check out the following events on campus this week.

Art, Culture, Politics: A Conversation with Shepard Fairey

Admission is free. While advance reservations are full, unclaimed tickets as well as a limited number of seats for a live broadcast will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at the event check-in. Check-in will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the Annenberg East Lobby.
Shepard Fairey is a contemporary artist, graphic designer and political and social activist. His iconic images, like the OBEY artwork and the Obama “HOPE” poster, are central elements of a cultural and creative economy. In a lively conversation, Shepard Fairey will discuss art, politics and consumer culture.
